Alex is being hunted by Fea construct creatures. But the constructs are being created with Souls. A rogue Collector is killing people to make the creatures. Also a few feet are found, but not the rest of the bodies. And they are coloured in black magic. So the Fea authorities get involved, taking Independants into custody. This brings Alex into conflict with the Courts as she has yet to decide which court to join now her Fea side is growing stronger. Falin comes back into her life too, and once again tries to protect her from the Winter Queen. Loved how magic was used. Seems a bit of a shame that Alex sight is getting worse with using her Grave magic, which causes more problems thoroughout the plot. She learns more about her Fea family too, which was interesting. I do like the writing style of this author, modern, easy to read and gives a great picture of the characters.

This was a great follow up to the first book, which I really loved and enjoyed. It’s action-packed and never loses suspense.
